The Procedure for Opening a Swiss Bank Account

It is really quite easy. Leave it to one of our customers, Hans B., from Vienna, to explain:

I had considered for some time getting an account in Switzerland.

Unfortunately, I am in a rather precarious financial situation, which is rooted in my past and has been hard to improve.

They dont throw the jobs on you anyhow, and no sooner you´re grown up, you´re too old for a job.

The only option that remains is to become self-employed. This is also not so easy, but it is feasible, and if one has ideas and is diligent, one even has quite a good chance.

The only problem was the bank account. If one has been called an unwanted customer once by a bank institute , one has no chance to open a bank account and get cash from an ATM, hold a credit card, and other such fine things. So, I needed a Swiss bank account.

One day, by chance, I clicked on “Schweizer Bank Account Info” and thought to myself “I will try. I am only risking 43 euros.” (Other banks require a few hundred euros - this would have been a little too much for me.)

So, I filled out the registration form and sent it and my commission fee via PayPal.

Two weeks later (I had it already almost forgotten I’d done this!), a letter from the Swiss bank reached me. They confirmed my registration and asked me for a certified copy of my passport, issued by a bank, or a municipal office..

Then, two days later, a nice man, K. in Bern, understood that with us in Austria, such things only notary publics, or courts do such and then he finally was content with a copy issued by a notary public.

The next day, I went to a notary public who certified me immediately (this cost only 4.60 €). The accredited copy of my passport I sent than to Switzerland by post .

After another ten days, the documents I had to sign arrived – a signature card and a statement saying that I agree with the rules of the bank. This is, by the way, a major bank with a lot of branches, not any small-time bank.

Instructions on how to access my data via Internet banking were also included in this information packet, and I was told that my debit card would soon arrive.

I had become, within only a few weeks, the proud owner of a Swiss bank account. Now I am glad to have these advantages, which will help me very much.
